Most of us have looked in the mirror at one time or another and asked, “Who is that?”

Possibly even jumped down the rabbit hole and asked, “If that is me, then who is the one looking at me? Who is the one thinking about me, the one who is conscious of my presence, my me-ness? Is that me, too?”

My insightful friend, Claire McKay, offered a clue in her comment to last week’s post. She introduced me to a term I can’t stop thinking about: “our star-selves.”

Her comment about our star-selves found its way onto my forum because I posted this quote:

“Every single atom in your body—the calcium in your bones, the carbon in your genes, the iron in your blood, the gold in your filling—was created in a star billions of years ago.” (Source)

Let’s think about that for a second.

Every single atom in your body…..was created in a star billions of years ago.

Now that’s a true Wonderland!

So……if on an atomic level I am composed of star material, then is that the true and authentic me — my star self?

And to peer even further beyond the veil —  is it possible I can access this part of me, this ancient star-me that must hold some degree of universal knowledge? How do I get in touch with her? Meditation? Prayer?  Stargazing?

Is this the meaning of Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image…”?

My mind is over-crowded with thoughts like these; yet I find it reassuring and quite perfect that our physical composition mirrors the composition of our Universe. And together we are made from the same elements as every other creature on Earth and beyond. We each carry that same Divine energy, the same light and fire and earth and air.

Yes?

That makes my star-self the same as your star-self? Only our physical form has organized itself into a different pattern?

Nodding, “yes.”

And as we explore our unique relationship with the Universe, we also collectively explore it with each other?

My head is bobbing “yes” like a cork.

Don’t worry, it’s all just a little riddle, a simple idea really — a tiny spark to carry you through the day.

Yes?
