All That I Hear

The ride from Minneapolis to Portland is a 3 1/2 hour flight so it’s good to develop rapport with your seatmates especially when you’ve just taken the last seat on the plane and are stuck in the middle between two strangers. The guy who sat to my left works for a company owned by the Koch brothers, said he likes them and admires what they stand for. But in the next sentence told me he felt he would vote for Bernie Sanders in the New Hampshire primaries next February.

A Night Full of Wishes

Our cat cozied up against my feet and soon my mind drifted….back to the pool, the meteors above, the comet and our Earth, the Universe, the vastness of it all. I thought about the truth that all life originates from the stars that “(e)very single atom in your body—the calcium in your bones, the carbon in your genes, the iron in your blood, the gold in your filling—was created in a star billions of years ago” (Source).

The Road Taken

The Road Taken

I have a recurring dream.

The hill is long and very, very steep. Almost a full 90 degree angle. I struggle (I always struggle) to drive a small and not very powerful car up this hill. The sky is dark, the summit barely within view. Most nights gravity takes over and my car somersaults backward in slow motion. Over and over I tumble in the air, then jerk awake just before I hit bottom.

Last night the dream came again, same form, different story. For the first time ever I carried a passenger in the little car.
